You need to talk to your friends and family. Milk any of them for what they might be worth. You could be very surprised there. Many people you know are probably very talented and just waiting to be asked to portray their talents. Also, nothing can replace the pride of not only learning how but doing it yourself.

Reliable and cheap- the DIY section of the library. Learn to do it yourself- even if you end up hiring someone, you will not get ripped off because you will know what you are talking about. You will see through any ‘double speak’ a contractor may throw at you to get more $. Also, most improvements you can do some if not all yourself- which means you don’t have to stay home and wait for the painters, you don’t have to pay the painters, and you’re not out a bunch of money when you decide the orange you chose is too peach and you really wanted gold anyway so you paint again.
