Houses run off of 110 voltage wiring, so 110 volts is the amount of power that comes in to power the different appliances and lighting throughout the house. Learn about 110 voltage wiring withadvice from a licensed remodeling contractor in this free video on home maintenance. What type/size wire should be used for 30 amps and 50 amps?? And yea this vid sucked. . . Help
Do you think that there is actually ANY useful information in this video??
what size breaker should be used with a stove
@vpbubbies
Yes i think you should rip out the 14 / 2 … it may work fine forever… throw a amprobe on it and see what your current is…. if its under 12 amps your good… however for future work on the house and future electricians comming , suck it up and replace it with 12 / 2 …. anyone who knows anything about electricity would never run 14 / 2 on a 20 amp circuit unless ur from mexico….. if your amps come up under 12 you may just want to switch to a 15 amp breaker.
If a line in a kitchen is hooked up to a 20Amp breaker & I changed from 1 ceiling mount lite to new pot-lites using 14/2 wire to connect them together, will the 20Amp damage the 14/2. I should of checked the Amps prior to running it, (I know that now),not even sure it is a 20Amp circut, maybe a 15, like I said, I didnt look. Should I rip it out the 14/2 if it is a 20Amp and replace it with 12/2 wire instead?
the ampere is a measure of the amount of electric charge passing a point per unit time… this dude is an idiot. Maybe this dude should take a 5 min course on ohms law before giving “advice”.
@tweeetme Ya but it use to be 110/220 they up the power to 120/240 sometime in the 1950s.
@MrSparks134 He was wrong about that, 220v (or 240v) comes into the house, then each leg of the 220v is split, that equals 110v (or 120v same sh*t). If you have a dryer, air conditioner etc. you use a breaker (in the service panel) that uses each 110v leg, equals 220v, and it’s all single phase. 3 phase is another deal. Not sure how much this guy really knows
@Vidsky1
everybody called it 110 because the old pre 1950s standard was 110 volts. now its 120 volts + or – 5%
@jigzignacio1 You don’t convert 110V to 220V you install a 220V outlet. prop wireing and proper outlet and prope rgrounding. you mite want to look at the National Electric Code while your at it. LOL,, be safe
@b3in In principal he is right , but then comes “do it your self guy ” and he removes the 15 am breaker and puts in a 20 amp and starts running to much off the 16 gauge outlets and the breaker does not trip and the wireing starts to melt and catch fire,,, I guess he forgot to mention this fact RIGHT? DANGER PEOPLE.
How to Convert 110V to 220V?
TIM get a Clue and stick to the stuff U know.
DONT USE 16 gauge wire in household wiring.. EXTREME FIRE HAzzard..
Tired of Idiots who post info that can destroy people lives
120v out here in California. I dunno where in the boonies they use 110v. And this is from a “licensed remodeling contractor” HAHAHAHA
240v is what comes in the house!!!!!
I’ve heard 110, 115, 120 – my power runs at 125 according to my UPS.
Probably different depending on the region.
Regular household current in the US and Canada is 120 Vac not 110 Vac, in some cases a 240 Vac circuit is needed for large appliances such as an airconditioner, (dish)washingmachines, dryers cooking stoves and such which can only be installed by a qualified electrician
new zealand is 240v 50 hurts then there is 3 phase power 400v
Tim , It’s 120 volts nominal from the source. The power company and transformers on the pole are set for 120 volts not 110.
This mistake is made all the time. And it’s 240volts not 220 volts
lets watch it on HD lol
The UK uses 230V at 60-90 Amp (I)
It’s kinda dull.
